Once upon a time, in the village of Grit, trust was the coin of the realm. Roland and Skapper the earth elemental kept the tavern at the crossroads — every traveler fed, every story heard. But before they came to keep their tavern, they first met in the most peculiar place.

In the blue-smoke hills where the hickory grows, an old boar tended the oldest fire pit in the land. Folk called him the Pitmaster, for no fire ever went out on his watch. But one gray morning the great fire sat cold, and in the ashes lay a single ember — round and quiet as a river stone, with no color left in it at all.

Only your colors can wake it.

The books are free with a visit — just ask when you order, while supplies last. The rig is at Blue Toad Cidery, 462 Winery Lane, Roseland, VA 22967, Friday through Sunday.
