BBQ Beast ("we," "us") runs bbqwiththebeast.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, reach us at hello@bbqwiththebeast.com or the address at the end of this page.
Information we collect
Information you give us. We collect the details you enter when you:
- ask about catering (name, email, phone, where and when the event is, a rough headcount, anything you tell us about it, and how you heard about us);
- join our email list (email address);
- ask for an event reminder or reserve a seat at one of our events (name, email, phone);
- leave a review or otherwise contact us (the name and message you submit).
Payment information. When you pay us a deposit or a bill, you pay through Square. Your card number is entered directly with Square and is never seen or stored on our servers.
Information collected automatically. Like most sites, our servers log basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited). We measure traffic with Matomo, a privacy-focused analytics tool run by the team that builds our site, so this data is not shared with an outside ad network.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Essential cookies that keep your visit working and protect our forms against spam and fraud.
- Analytics cookies set by Matomo to understand how the site is used. These are first-party only.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the essential ones are needed for our forms to work.
How we use your information
- answer your catering inquiry and plan your event with you;
- send you event reminders and the news you asked for;
- operate, secure, and improve the site;
- meet legal and tax obligations.
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only as needed:
- Glass Umbrella, Inc. (The Smithy) — builds and runs this site and our marketing, runs our Matomo analytics, and receives catering inquiries along with our crew so we can answer quickly.
- Amazon Web Services — website hosting, file storage, and delivery of our emails.
- Square — payment processing.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of BBQ Beast, our guests, or others.
Children
This site is for planning food and events with us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our Kids & Coloring page collects nothing at all.
Our email list
If you join our list, you can leave it at any time by emailing hello@bbqwiththebeast.com. Messages tied to something you asked for, like an answer to your inquiry or an event reminder, are not marketing and are sent regardless of your list preferences.
Social media and our use of platform tools
If you follow or message us on Facebook, your activity there is governed by Facebook's own policies. When we publish to our own Facebook page through Meta's developer tools, we use them only to post our own content to our own page and to view analytics for that page. We do not access, collect, or store the personal data of other Facebook users.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide what you asked for and to meet legal, accounting, and tax requirements, then delete or anonymize it.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop marketing to you. Email hello@bbqwiththebeast.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. Some records tied to completed payments may be retained where the law requires.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including handling payments through a PCI-compliant processor. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page.
